Advertising

University Policy 80.1.3 (PDF) outlines general rules and standards for the purchase of external advertising. This includes complying with the ad review process managed by University Communications and Marketing's Office of Strategic Communications. All Rutgers advertising must be reviewed and approved in advance of placement through this ad review process with the exception of:

  • Job postings
  • Legal notices
  • Classified advertisements
  • Advertisements in campus media
  • Institutional Review Board-approved advertising

Approvals are made in collaboration with the Rutgers University–Newark Office of Communications and Rutgers University–Camden Communications Office, as appropriate.

After you have completed the ad review process, attach an electronic copy of your confirmation receipt when you make your requisition in Rutgers Marketplace,  along with any other necessary backup such as estimates or copies of the ads.

If the advertising purchase is more than $5,000, you must also attach a copy of the Blanket Bid Waiver Letter for the Purchase of Paid Media, which the Office of Strategic Communications can also provide.
